Near Formless
Ongoing series of drawings - graphite on paper begun in 2013.
Inspired by chance, action and reaction, each drawing begins with a liquid applied to the paper followed by powdered graphite which is then brushed and scraped across the surface revealing a composition of wet / dry and the action / reaction of the mixture worked with various tools. Areas that become 'enclosed' by chance are sometimes accentuated with line hatching. The drawings become records of chance, of the hand, eye, and mind reacting to the composition as it is formed in the act of making.
